Maharashtra’s ₹500 Crore Bet on a Plastic-Free Future

The Government of Maharashtra has signed a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Recove Ventures to establish a large-scale plastic recycling network across the state, with planned investments exceeding ₹500 crore.

The agreement was signed at Mantralaya in Mumbai between Dr P. Anbalagan, Principal Secretary for Industries, Investment and Services, and Recove Ventures co-founders Kunal Kumar and Viral Chhajer. The delegation also met Devendra Fadnavis following the signing ceremony.

Under the partnership, the first project will involve development of a 1,100-tonne-per-month high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) recycling facility at Additional Jalgaon MIDC, which has been identified as a priority D+ industrial zone. The project is expected to attract investment of more than ₹35 crore.

The proposed facility will utilise extrusion, granulation and deep-vacuum deodorisation technologies to manufacture industrial-grade recycled granules for packaging, automotive and consumer goods industries. Commissioning is targeted between October and December 2026, with the project expected to create nearly 100 direct jobs and over 1,500 indirect employment opportunities.
